I’ve been struggling, and here’s why I’m happy about it.

I’ve always been very inventive and entrepreneurial. I come up with new ideas constantly (just ask my wife). That’s where focus has been difficult. 

I recognized that I want to close my military chapter and pursue a career in tech where I can take my ideas and implement them. But where did I get started? 

I took an amazing crypto fundamentals course through Chainalysis (thanks US Army), a course by 101blockchains, bought many more, studied for my Red Hat RHCSA only to realize I didn’t want to pursue sysadmin, spun up an ETH validator, worked through a bunch of The Odin Project, Codecademy, and all kinds of tutorial hell.

All of this has helped me define the path I want to take. I had the realization that it’s okay to not know every step along the way. Find something you’re interested in, and pursue it. Make adjustments and pivot along the way. Reach out to those who are doing what you want to do and build genuine relationships.

The one common theme I’ve found is that new things take time and massive effort. At the end of the day, you have to perform. Can you do what you say you can do? Are you taking CONSISTENT action towards the life you desire? While I’m not where I want to be yet, I’m well on my way. 

This is my struggle, and I’m happy to be struggling forward.
