🚨 GOOGLE SHEETS / EXCEL USERS ⚠️ please help me!

I'm sure the solution is obvious, but I can't figure the dang thing out.

Column A tracks the date range (irrelevant but context)
Column B tracks number of members
Column C does nothing but annoy me

I want Column C to display the change in member count as a percentage. I have tried the following formulas. I will use real numbers to better demonstrate what I mean, but for reference (B2) is (25) and (B3) is (42)

=(𝟰𝟮-𝟮𝟱)/𝟮𝟱*𝟭𝟬𝟬 this gave me 68. When I changed the format to % it gives me 6800% no matter how I choose the length or decimal placing.

= ((𝟰𝟮-𝟮𝟱)/𝟮𝟱)*𝟭𝟬𝟬 same deal as the last one

= ((𝟰𝟮-𝟮𝟱)/𝟮𝟱)/𝟭𝟬𝟬 this one gives me 0.1%. I don't even know.

= ((𝟰𝟮-𝟮𝟱)/𝟮𝟱)*𝟭𝟬𝟬/𝟭𝟬𝟬 this one correctly displays 68% but has two unnecessary steps, so naturally my next attempt was

= ((𝟰𝟮-𝟮𝟱)/𝟮𝟱) but this just throws an ERR code.

Someone please explain the correct formula to me like I am a 5 year old (but like, a zebra not a human) before I slam my head into my laptop and call it a day.

Try =(E9-E8)/E9   and format as %   (that was in google docs). The math formula will give the basic decimal value, like 0.42444 and the format will automatically do 42%    I think the secret is that the percent part comes from formatting, and not the formula. Hope this helps.
