My science teacher, Mr Bruce Dickson, had one arm and used to pick ping pong balls out of liquid nitrogen with his hand, much to the sheer amazement of the class. Why would such an obviously informed and intelligent man risk his hand to demonstrate something to his students?? Mr Dickson knew that the risks to him were very low, due to the Leidenfrost effect, but the room full of 15 year old students didn't. I think we all remember that day like it was yesterday. My point here is that Mr Dickson knew when to bend or break the rules and still do things safely with positive and beneficial outcomes.
