Storytelling During a Jury Trial

People around the world are paying attention to the historical trial taking place right now of the former President of the United States.

It’s too bad audio and video are not allowed in the courtroom because I can already tell by updates from the courtroom that both sides will be presenting evidence via compelling storytelling techniques.

Good trial lawyers are always focusing on crafting and combining compelling stories with the presentation of witnesses and evidence during a trial.

We try to use vivid, sensory-rich descriptions that transport the jury. We do all we can to create engaging dialogue that reveals characters and advances the facts of our case (the plot).

Depending on the facts of the case, we select and then double down on a single well-structured narrative approach like in medias res, frame story, or nonlinear narrative, that builds tension and delivers a satisfying desired verdict the jury can be proud of and be able to easily explain to their family and friends.

I wish this particular trial was televised.

I can already tell by published reports that the lawyers for both sides are going to do a good job.
