On the fourth day, Dhanyakumar sets out to the market with his bag of coins. As he wanders around, he arrives at the shop of Maheshwar Shreshthi. There, he notices a letter from the merchant’s friend lying open. Despite it being upside down, Dhanyakumar reads it. Wouldn't we also like to read it? What was in the letter? “Dear friend Maheshwar...!

Greetings from your friend Subhadra from Sarthan. We are well here and hope you are too. I need to inform you that “Sarthavah is bringing a lot of goods in several carts from Uttara Path, including various supplies. For some reason, he wishes to sell all the goods quickly and return to his village soon. The goods are excellent, suitable for a merchant like you. If you come quickly and buy them, you will gain much profit. Otherwise, someone else will purchase them, so come promptly...”

After reading this letter, Maheshwar thinks, “It would be good to buy all the goods from Sarthavah. Since no other merchants know about this yet, I’ll go home, eat, and then go there peacefully...”

With this thought, the merchant heads home for his meal. Dhanyakumar thinks, “This merchant is truly foolish. His friend asked him to come quickly, yet he went to eat. Such carelessness is unbecoming of a trader. I should quickly go and buy all the goods myself.”

He goes home, dons fine clothes, mounts his horse, and heads out of town to meet Sarthavah. Shortly, he encounters Sarthavah.

Dhanyakumar expresses his desire to buy all the goods he has. Sarthavah quickly states the price, and Dhanyakumar, handing over his diamond ring, says, “Hold this ring as a pledge until I return with the money. Now, all these goods are mine.”

Dhanyakumar returns home to get the money. Meanwhile, Maheshwar finishes his meal and arrives to negotiate the purchase of the goods from Sarthavah.
