5 Reasons you SHOULD work for a company.

1. The company supports your education. 

You might already have mandatory education seminars/meetings. These CAN be helpful, but limited. Thumbs up to the companies that reimburse courses you take on your own---I've also seen monthly subscriptions given to sites like Skillshare which is a sweet perk. 

2. They set you up for success before you even start. Look for: 

-Moving reimbursements. 

This one is huge, moving to a new city or state can easily cost $3k-$5k with packing, hiring movers, transport, supplies, breaking a lease+putting down a new deposit. Every time you start a new job, you are making a bet that this job will work out. DO NOT bet thousands of $$$ before day 1.

-A good onboarding process

Few things are more discouraging than being a month into a new position and not really knowing how anything works or what you should do. P.S. I had a great onboarding experience at Acquisition through my manager James Contrini. Mad props Jimbo!

3. Company friendships are encouraged. 

Am I the only one tired of the word "professional" being used to suck all of the joy out of things? Being lonely & depressed doesn't actually make people more productive. Weird right? 

4. Annual raises.

Every year you don't get a pay raise, it means you get a pay cut due to inflation. This is honestly the bare minimum considering that if you move to a new job you will get a 14.8% pay increase on average. Seriously, if you didn't get a raise this year start looking.

5. The business is in the business of encouragement. 

People can technically exist without this, but it's a fate no one should have to endure. I believe that everyone needs encouragement all the time, so if a company makes this a priority it can overcome a multitude of sins.
