Analytic philosophy is a beautiful philosophy and system of ideas. It discusses the importance of how our language and actions have consequences, discusses the critical nature of understanding our motives relating to moral and ethical decisions, and observing and understanding the world while making informed decisions. 

As such, in South Korea and many Asian cultures, there's an emphasis on relationships of not breaking another's dignity, not hurting someone's feelings, and showing others respect no matter the title, position, social status, and relationship. The idea here is to live in harmony with others. To do this, people often focus on tone of voice and body language to gauge how someone is thinking or feeling. 

In Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous, the emphasis being taught is to take personal responsibility for one's actions. Additionally, it reads in the literature, "So, our troubles, we think, are basically of our own making. They arise out of ourselves..." 

I think it's important to look at the consequences of our actions. Our actions, whether the words we use or the behaviors we display, usually are the cause of our problems. Our problems with colleagues? Our problems with siblings? Our problems with ourselves? 

Though I do not agree that 100% of everything that we experience can be attributed to ourselves, I do think we play a part in a lot of things that occur. If we take a deep, honest inventory of our lives, our decisions, our thought processes, how would we assess our motives? How would we feel after that type of reflection? Do we need to work on ourselves? If the answer is yes, then what do you need to do? 

Thought for today: Focus on how your actions and behaviors affect others. Do a personal inventory and ask yourself about the true nature of your decisions. 

Action for today: I will focus on how my actions (behaviors and words) impact others. I will make a conscious effort to be mindful of what I say and the things I do today. When I'm in doubt, I will take an inventory of myself, and see what I need to do.
