What does that even mean? 

To me, it’s not just about saying ‘no’ when it’s easy—it’s about staying laser-focused, even when you’re tempted to say ‘yes.’ 

Reflecting on my first-ever guest appearance on The Recruitment Rollercoaster Podcast back in 2019, I shared this exact mindset as I started building KC Partners from the ground up.

True success isn’t just about focus; it’s about knowing when to say ‘no’ to things that aren’t quite right. 

It’s easy to stay on track when the path is clear, but the real challenge? 

Turning down those shiny, tempting opportunities that don’t truly align with your goals—a lesson I talked about in that early podcast episode and one I still live by today.

Here’s what helps me stay focused:

1️⃣ Use a ‘yes/no’ filter: Ask, ‘Does this actually move me closer to my goals?’ If not, it’s off the list.

2️⃣ Reconnect with your ‘why’: Staying grounded in your purpose makes saying ‘no’ feel like progress, not a setback.

3️⃣ Celebrate your ‘no’s: Every time you say no to something misaligned, you’re creating room for what truly matters.

Success is built on these tough choices.
