Life's Meaning

Zak Bagans’s opening line for Ghost Adventures says, “There are things in this world that we will never fully understand. We want answers.” 

Finding these answers, however, are not just for hunting ghosts, right? There are questions still being posed today about life, about earth, about the meaning of life, creation of life, etc. Some people think we live in a simulation while others might believe we live in a reality that is nothing but a jumbled up illusion of senses. Others believe that we might just be here temporarily, waiting to pass on to the next dimension. Some people might believe that we are governed by precise and immutable laws that are unchangeable (Remy Awika, Medium). 

Osho believed that the meaning to one’s life is not in mimicking others, but in allowing one’s life to unfold on its own. Viktor Frankl believed that the meaning of life differs from person to person, from moment to moment, from hour to hour, & minute to minute, & thus, we each give a specific meaning to each given moment throughout our lives. 

I think it is essential to understand that understanding whatever it is that we are trying to understand, is not an easy task, nor is it an overnight matter. This work is a day by day, moment by moment, minute by minute matter. Life’s meaning might be different for each of us, regardless of what we believe ; however, I think it is important to remember what Naval Ravikant said – “Sing the song that only you can sing, write the book that only you can write, build the product that only you can build… live the life that only you can live.” Only you can write your story – nobody else can do it for you. Fear not your story. 

My challenge is to always remember that Lao Tzu reminds us that a “journey of thousand miles begins with a single step.”
