Adigi, the Wheel Turner of Okere

In the village Okere where a living wind blows,
Lives Adigi, with grease on his hands and hope in his eyes.
A master of spokes, of pedals and chains,
He brings life to bicycles, come sunshine or rain.

With fingers worn but spirit bold,
He breathes a new lease of life into old bicycles wheels and frames with his rusty hammer and greasy spanner

For every child who dreams of school
Adigi crafts their traveling tool.
They ride at dawn, their school bags tight on their backs
No car, no bus, but wheels that spin—
And knowledge rides with them, within
Thanks to the man who didn’t go to school
But his skills and tools many children now go to school

Adigi helps the farmer move with grace,
With cassava and cowpea greens from field to place.
Maize in sacks, shea nuts piled high,
Elephant grasses swaying as they roll by.

When in Imat Olani or Junction trading centers and drinking joints
His work rolls on through village sounds.
He’s the silent gear behind each day,

And Sunday’s trip to our local Pat Oali Market
Would be impossible without Adigi’s bicycle mechanical treats.

Adigi, the humble, the quiet, the handyman,
Turns more than wheels—he lets dreams rise.
Even many sips of moga amoga local gin can not make Adigi to forget his cardinal societal role to Okere
He is not just a mechanic, but a maker of progress,
Who helps Okere’s people to move forward.
