The founder of Nike, Phil Knight, sold his first shoes out of the trunk of his car in 1964. He and his track coach, Bill Bowerman, started Blue Ribbon Sports (which later became Nike) with just $500 each. The iconic Nike "Swoosh" logo was designed by a graphic design student for only $35, she was paid around $2/hour and didn’t receive any royalties, even as the company grew into a billion-dollar empire!
