One of the real privileges of hosting the Legally Speaking Podcast is getting to sit across from people who truly shape the law and do so with courage, clarity and conviction.

In 2025, our most listened-to episode was with Jeremy Dein KC.

That says a lot.

Jeremy has spent over four decades at the criminal bar, standing between the state and the individual, often in the most complex and emotionally charged cases imaginable.

What struck me most in our conversation was not just his advocacy, but his values.

Jeremy said:

“You are the person standing between the state and the individual.”

And:

“If the public knew how hard defence lawyers work, the ethical standards they adhere to, and the role they play in society, they would take a very different view.”

That episode resonated globally because it went beyond headlines and into the reality of justice, responsibility and moral courage.
