Here is my approach to increasing productivity with my restaurant managers without requiring additional time commitments.

Many of us face time constraints; our schedules are often overflowing, and there are not enough hours in the day. We frequently receive texts, calls, and emails from managers concerning various issues, problems, or tasks that demand attention.

Additionally, engaging in multiple conversations often results in repeated discussions with different individuals on similar topics.

My solution involves holding regular management meetings.

Each week, the management team convenes to establish priorities for the upcoming week, review Food, Labour, and Sales metrics, and address any issues that arise.

This one-hour weekly meeting effectively saves me four hours by preventing multiple separate conversations with different team members. When matters of concern arise, I ask whether they can be deferred until our scheduled meeting.

Once team members understand they will have dedicated time with the management team and an opportunity to address relevant issues collectively, they are more likely to reserve questions and concerns for that designated period, thereby reducing the need for immediate attention.

Ironically, the key to saving time is to allocate time intentionally through scheduled meetings.
