Mentorship is not about titles. It is about legacy.

I’m grateful to be featured in the latest edition of The WIM Magazine, a special issue celebrating mentorship and those who shape others behind the scenes.

In the interview, we went deeper than job titles.

I spoke about my late grandfather, who built one of the most successful law firms of his generation from very humble beginnings. What always stayed with me was not the growth of the firm.

It was the Christmas cards.

Clients writing years later. Updating him on their families. Sharing how the work he had done helped shape their futures.

That is impact.
That is mentorship.

We also discussed the difference between an audience and a community.

“A community is always about helping people, hopefully enhance, or get a fulfilling legal career, either at the start or at the midpoint or coming towards the end of it.” 

An audience watches.
A community participates.

We touched on burnout in law too.

Firms do not need more surface-level wellbeing messaging.

They need leaders who are human. Leaders who can say they do not have all the answers and invite collaboration.

And when it comes to the future:

“I think every organisation in any industry, not just recruitment, has to lean into AI and to be continuously learning, tweaking, evolving, testing.” 

AI will change workflows.
But reputation will still be the real currency.

For me, the true measure of impact is simple.

What are people saying about you when you are not in the room?

If you have had a mentor who shaped your path, have you told them?

And who are you shaping next?
