Soumitra Dutta Former Oxford Dean 

Soumitra Dutta is an Indian academic, author, and global business education leader known for his work on innovation, technology policy, and digital transformation. He served as the dean of Saïd Business School at University of Oxford from June 2022 until September 2025. 

Soumitra Dutta was born in India and pursued engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, where he earned a B.Tech. He later studied in the United States at University of California, Berkeley, completing master’s degrees and a Ph.D. in computer science. 

Dutta has held leadership roles at several major international business schools. Before joining Oxford, he served at Cornell University, where he was the founding dean of the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business and previously dean of the Johnson Graduate School of Management.

Earlier in his career, he spent more than two decades at INSEAD, a leading international business school in France and Singapore, where he held several senior academic and leadership roles.
