Description

About the company Hardfin is a B2B software platform for equipment manufacturers (e.g., agriculture, construction, robotics, 3D printing) to offer white-label subscriptions for their hardware. The hardware industry is moving to subscriptions (i.e., hardware-as-a-service) but is behind the curve because subscriptions are so much harder to implement for hardware than pure software. Global equipment leaders like Caterpillar and John Deere have teams of people to run in-house financing and leasing operations. Younger companies have started to put together subscription solutions (e.g., Carbon 3D, Desktop Metal) by tying together internal software. But no manufacturer has cracked the code to make it a seamless digital customer experience. Hardfin cracks the code. We solve the complex system and data problems for our customers and enable smooth subscriptions for all teams (sales, operations, engineering, finance). Our platform unlocks new capabilities for the equipment industry to transition to modern business models. We were founded by Zachary Kimball, Donald Hoelle and Danny Hermes. Zack was most recently a startup business leader in data & analytics at Skupos, where he helped grow the B2B software platform. Zack’s background is in payments, venture finance, and mortgage finance. He's a former McKinsey consultant and Harvard Law School alum. Early in his career, he was a freelance payments and database developer. Donald was most recently a startup technical leader at Restless Bandit, where he helped build hiring software for Fortune 100 companies. Before that, he founded an IoT company, and was an early employee at Bill.com. He believes that product teams should be collaborative, empathetic, and close to their customers. He's an SF Bay native and a Cal Poly alum (Go Mustangs!) Danny cut his teeth early in his career at Google, working on developer experiences for Google Cloud Platform. As a Staff Engineer at Blend, a leading fintech company automating mortgage finance, he focused on scaling the infrastructure as Blend grew rapidly in the years leading up to IPO. He deeply values high quality communication in software engineering. He grew up a farm kid in northwest Illinois and holds a PhD in Mathematics from UC Berkeley. 💪 What you bring to the table From your professional career, you have: Experience developing new software products from scratch (ability to write understandable, maintainable, testable code) Hands-on full-stack exposure (skilled from back-end development and containerization to front-end development and design) Strong opinions and intuition about the best approach (have instincts on the right path, but not ideologically tied to specific technologies) Natural curiosity and eagerness to learn new things quickly (comfortable picking up new stacks and choosing the right tool to get the job done) Strong verbal and written communication skills (care about documenting our knowledge and processes so the team can learn and the company can scale) Customer empathy and understanding (want to know customer pain points and the best way to solve them with or without tech) Product vision and intuition (ability to connect the dots on how customer needs tie to product and technical solutions)
