Bio
I am Holly O"Brien. If there was an adulting mistake to be made I made it. I dropped out of school in 11th grade because I didn"t feel like it was a great use of my time. I used my time so wisely that I had my first son on my 18th birthday. I muddled through my 20s, got married divorced, remarried, and blended a family together with my husband Dan. We had full time jobs on top of part time jobs on top of gig work and side hustles. Doing everything we could to provide for our boys. With 6 boys between the 2 of us, 4 mine 2 his, there was a lot of food to put on the table. There was a lot of surviving going on, but not a lot of future planning. When our boys became teenagers finances settled and we had time to breathe. We realized that we had hustled through our kids" childhood and lost valuable time to instill values, work ethics, and life skills. We thought to ourselves, "We can"t be the only ones in this situation." We looked at our youth and saw the skill gaps left by shifts in school funding and over stretched parents. We had to do something as our youth deserve more. We started brainstorming and came up with a gamified life skills app. We call it SkillZilla. That is the story of SkillZilla, but even more importantly the story I found my life"s purpose: to empower American Youth to not only survive, but thrive!
