presently a graphic designer and illustrator for more than 30 years, I have been gainfully employed recently with a commercial real estate company as their marketing coordinator. As much as I love the culture and camaraderie where I work, I no longer wish to sit at a desk and push pixels and design graphics and brochures. Instead I am trying to develop hardware in my own time, in particular premium retail merchandise. In other words, I am learning how to use CAD/CAM and modelling and fabrication tools and materials. This is possible because of the local makerspace I belong to: Saskatoon Techworks. it’s a very collaborative environment for me to explore ideas and methods. as well as get great feedback from likeminded people.
